Zillertal and Hintertux: Holidays in Tyrol

Holidays in Zillertal: A little Geography and Plenty of Tips for Interesting Sights

Let’s start from large to small and start our journey to Hintertux in the broad Inntal. It is there that the 40 km long Zillertal branches off towards the south. In Mayrhofen in Zillertal, the valley splits several times: one of the valleys is Tuxertal – and the Hintertux holiday resort is located at the very end of this romantic valley.

From the town of Mayrhofen, the Zillertal valley fans out resembling the branches of a tree. The individual valleys feature worthwhile hiking trails and mountain bike routes to be discovered during your holidays in Hintertux. Find out what else there is to be discovered through our information provided on Hintertux and Zillertal!

Hintertux: Holidays at the Hintertux Glacier

Hintertux is one of five towns belonging to the municipality of Tux. The town of Hintertux is situated at the very end of the valley at the foot of the Hintertux Glacier. In 1280, the village was first mentioned in documents as “Tukkes”. Then – like in other Alpine valleys – Romans, Bavarians, Salzburg archbishops and alternating “masters” followed.

Today, the Zillertal 3000 Ski & Glacier World is one of the top 10 ski resorts in the world.
