Safety on the mountain

The glacier - the eternal ice - promises safe skiing and snowboarding pleasure in Hintertux 365 days a year. The health and safety of all guests and employees has top priority and therefore additional measures have been and are being implemented and continuously adapted since May in accordance with the legal requirements regarding Covid-19.

Did you know that the Hintertuxer Gletscherbahnen are always concerned about your safety, not only with regard to the current situation, but of course also otherwise?

39,400 people can be transported per hour and the „Gletscherbus 3“ is even the highest two-cable gondola lift in the world. That is why the highest safety precautions apply at the glacier. Since the glacier ice moves between 0 and 40 meters per year, the 61 supports that stand on glacier ice, are regularly moved, for example. In addition, 13 piste machines are in operation every day to prepare the up to 60 pistes and 270 hectares of piste surface perfectly for you. A „Pistenbully“ is only used in Hintertux for an average of 5 years and then replaced.

Hard to believe, but cable cars are one of the safest means of mass transportation and are even 3 times safer than soccer.

To ensure that you are not only protected from accidents, but are also safe on the mountain, there are currently some additional rules that we should all take to heart:

For a carefree and safe time while skiing

It is important that you always carry a mouth-nose protector with you (mouth and nose must be completely covered) and use it if the prescribed minimum distance to other people cannot be maintained. At the Hintertux Glacier this is currently mandatory at the ski pass sales points as well as in the access area at all cable cars, in the station area, in the entry/exit area as well as during the ride on the cable cars (gondola lifts, chair lifts, drag lifts), in the ski shop/depot, in the ski bus and in the mountain gastronomy including the self-catering areas.

By the way, the Hintertux Glacier also offers you a free mouth-nose protector at the cash desks and lift stations and for € 1,- you can buy a "glacier tube cloth" at the cash desks of the valley station.

Correct planning

At Hotel Neuhintertux you benefit from the immediate vicinity to the glacier valley station. Nevertheless, we recommend that you start your ascent as of 8.45 a.m. to avoid the first rush, as in autumn many training teams go up the mountain in the morning. The same applies to the restaurants and huts. If you plan your lunch break before 11.30 a.m. or after 2 p.m., you will certainly avoid the biggest rush. Or you just reserve a table in advance in the restaurants.

Thanks for your support

Of course, the success of the safety measures regarding Covid-19 (distance regulations, the provision of disinfectants, etc.) depends on your support. Therefore once again our appeal to you: Please wear a mask where necessary, wash your hands regularly, use the disinfectant dispensers and above all keep your distance from other people. This way we can all enjoy a carefree time on the mountain.
