Even more experiences on the Hintertux Glacier

If you want to experience even more of the mountain world around the Hintertux Glacier, you can visit the Nature Ice Palace, the Panorama Terrace or the Spannagel Cave nearby.

Natur Ice Palace

Ice, ice, ice – that’s what the Natur Ice Palace is all about, because here you can explore a walkable glacier crevasse 30 m below the slope where you were skiing just yesterday on a guided tour. Here you can marvel at magical ice stalactites, sparkling ice crystals, and frozen waterfalls. On the underground glacier lake, you can even take a boat ride. This 70-minute basic tour is bookable all year round. A constant temperature around the freezing point prevails here. So please bring warm clothing and sturdy mountain boots.

Panorama Terrace at 3,250 m

Can’t get enough of the Zillertal mountain views? Then you shouldn’t miss Austria’s highest panorama terrace . Comfortably and barrier-free, you can take the gondola lift up to an altitude of 3,250 m and enjoy the spectacular 360° view over the Zillertal Alps, the Zugspitze, the Dolomites, and the Großglockner.

Spannagel Cave

The largest show cave of the Central Alps, the Spannagel Cave, is also only 10 minutes from the mountain station of the Zillertal Glacier Cable Car. Here you will find fascinating insights into the alpine history of formation for both young and older mountain enthusiasts. The guided tour, open all year round, covers 500 m (of the actually 10 km long cave) and lasts about 1 hour. Equipped with helmet and protective coat, you will admire the “bull’s eyes.” These are kettle-shaped washouts and magnificent marble formations. Special finds can be discovered in the adjacent cave museum.
