The High Mountain Nature Park Zillertal Alps covers around 422 square kilometres and stretches from approximately 1,000 metres above sea level in the mountaineering village of Ginzling up to 3,509 metres at Mount Hochfeiler. It encompasses every alpine elevation zone: from green valley floors and alpine meadows to mountain forests, rugged rocky landscapes, and impressive glaciers.

This remarkable diversity in altitude is precisely what makes the nature park so special. Hardly any other region combines such a variety of habitats and landscapes within such a compact area. Deep gorges, striking side valleys, and majestic peaks define the scenery.

The Best of Both Worlds

Although Hintertux technically lies just outside the official boundaries of the nature park, it certainly doesn’t feel that way. Nature knows no borders – the landscape flows seamlessly from the Tux Valley into the untouched side valleys of the park.

Those who set out from Hintertux in the morning find themselves shortly afterwards in a completely different world: quieter, more authentic, and almost untouched by time. The transition is seamless – from the glacier village into one of Tyrol’s most peaceful high-mountain landscapes.
